September 2011 Update

Here is what we have planned in advance for the month of September. More to come as things com along.

September 8th
  • What: Bible Study
  • When: 6:00 at the Library here in GC
  • We Need...just you, bring a bible if you have one, we plan to meet twice a month
September 15th
  • What: Free Lunch for Juniors and Seniors of Grundy Center High School. There are about 110 seniors and juniors in total, I hope they all come out and can enjoy some nice weather in my driveway and a free lunch on us!
  • When: 11:00-1:00 at my house, 907 F. Ave.
  • We Need...set up, clean up, burger cookers, some salads, bags of chips, a few desserts.
  • CLICK HERE for the sign up Sheet.
September 17th
  • What: Senior Housing Spruce Up. There are several folks at the senior housing development that don't have any plants or flowers on the outside of their apartments. I thought it would be a great idea to plant some tulip bulbs (can you tell my wife is dutch) to bring some more life in the spring, give the folks some more reason to be outside and out of their apartments.
  • When: 10:00-12:00
  • We Need...some people that know about gardening and planting these, bulb donations, small shovels, and whatever else we need to be planting.
September 24th
  • What: Mobile Food Pantry. We had a great time last month, got to visit with many folks and pray for people too. It was great!
  • When: 7:00, my house, 907 F. Ave., Grundy Center, Iowa
  • We Need...you, and some ideas as to what to serve. Doughnuts are going over great as is the coffee. What else could we provide??
October 1st
  • What: Community Night of Prayer. The first Saturday is the first of the month, so I just wanted to make sure to plug this one. Eric Lins will be in from Cedar Falls. Going to be a great time!
  • When: 5:45 is dinner, 6:15 worship starts, prayer time to follow!
  • We Need...you, and a friend or two. Love watching the Holy Spirit show up each month!
Mid October: the Fall season is rapidly approaching, and so is out second fall festival! I hope to have an e-mail out mid september of what we are planning!

Hey 2Coats! What do you do?

I have been asked several times in my visits and meetings with different people the question, "What does 2Coats do?" Being as consistent with our mission and vision as possible, here is my answer...

  1. Mission: to bridge the gap between those that have and those that need.
  2. Vision: to assist, organize, and direct individuals in sharing their time, talents, and gifts in order to compassionately engage them towards God and one another.
  3. We help with small home repairs and touchups including painting, brush clean up, general cleaning, "Spring Cleaning".
  4. We can help with moving.
  5. We give out free doughnuts and coffee at the mobile food pantry on the 4th Saturday of the month.
  6. We help to find new homes for couches, washers, dryers, we help make appliance exchange.
  7. We can help with finances, paying bills, financial education, bill management.
  8. We have helped with food for different events.
  9. We serve the local senior housing development, organizing BBQ's, caroling, grocery bag drops, spring cleaning events.
  10. We give away free water on really hot days.
  11. We do grocery bag drops around the community.
  12. We have a night of prayer once per month along with dinner and worship music.
  13. We love praying for people.
