Christmas Caroling '12; bridging the gap

Had a chance to go Christmas caroling last week with some 2Coats Friends.  This was our december outreach for one of our compassionate engagements called, The 10:5 Movement  What a great time.  We started slow, but we got our voices in tune.  I love love love to see the faces of those we are singing to.  Whether it is the sound of the voices, the kids walking around and playing with us, or some memory that has just been reintroduced to their thoughts  the smiles are great.  The handshakes always seem to be a little tighter, the hugs a little longer, and they seem to hold you a little longer.

I also enjoy the simplicity of the engagement.  We are singing songs, and that's about it.  No gifts, cookies, fancy etc. to give away, just us, and most importantly, God in us, abiding in our souls.  And with this indwelling and the pouring our via singing, we were able to usher in the Power, the Presence, and the Love of Jesus as God did 2000 years ago.  He introduced His son to human history, the world was about to turn, and we have never been the same since.

Thanks again to all who joined us, you made my day and were one of the highlights of this season for me and my family.

We used to sing this song at church in college.  I always enjoyed it, am just starting to understand more of its meaning...
