2Coats Holds Second Community Night of Prayer.

Headline: 2Coats Holds First Community Night of Prayer.

On Saturday, October 2nd, emerging service organization 2Coats had its first “Community Night of Prayer” in the basement of the Farm Bureau Insurance Building. Worship Music was performed by Emma Reeves of Janesville. There were snacks, drinks, and good music heard by all. Said 2Coats founder Steve Hinderhofer, “This is the first night of monthly gatherings we hope to have in this community and we were excited about the turnout. A night to relax, enjoy some music, eat a cookie or two, and get a chance to become more intimate with other community members and the Holy Spirit.”

2Coats is an emerging outreach organization here in Grundy Center whose mission is to create a community where its’ individuals live together in a wonderful harmony. Founded behind the idea that most people have two coats and could probably stand to give one away, 2Coats plans to have monthly “compassionate engagements” to accomplish its three major goals. First, to bridge the gap between those who have and those who need. Second, to share the wealth, gifts, fruit and blessings God has put into our lives. Third, to compassionately engage individuals towards God and one another. Future events include an October Community Night of Prayer (11-5-10; 6PM), a fall festival for community members (10-16-10), a grocery bag food giveaway (10-30-10), and other events in which we hope to put some legs to our theology.

“We want to bring to life what is says in the Bible, throughout the first few chapters of Acts as the first believers where coming to grow in their faith and knowledge of the Holy Spirit”, says Hinderhofer. Acts 2: 43-45 reads, ‘and all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person's need was met.’ And two coats is not just for followers of Jesus. All are welcome to come serve, help, and be apart of a great community experience.

Said Hinderhofer, “There’s no blueprint to where we are going, but there is a vision on my heart and we are pursuing the narrow path in trying to serve our community, walk the balance beam, and press on to be the energy carriers that others so desperately need today.”
