Whoa!!  August is here, and almost gone!!

• harvest time, work time and some dinner.  Grilled Chicken is on the menu.
• bring a chair, a friend, and a garden tool, meet at the house.
• need someone to take some pictures and write an article for the paper  

August 24th; Mobile Food Pantry 7:00 AM @ 907 F. Ave. and heading to Bethany Pres. Church

• breakfast baked goods needed (muffins, breads, etc. etc.)
• your smiling face as well; come meet some new people, tell them how much God loves them.

• Spring cleaning, washing windows, raking gardens, and other needed tasks for our friends here in town.

Winter Weather; Spring Cleaning

April marks the beginning of spring, and for 2Coats, the third year in a row that we have participated in a Spring Cleaning Event at the SUnrise Apartments, here in Grundy Center.  Several volunteers and 2Coats friends came out this past Saturday to do some spring cleaning at the sunrise apartments here in Grundy Center, Iowa.  This is the third year we have done spring cleaning at the apartments   Cleaning activities have included window washing, floor dusting, garden raking, and we have even cleaned out an oven or too!  Many of our friends like to have their windows washed, but the weather just seemed too cold this past Saturday (and windy) to open up the windows on this day.  We did have several requests from individuals to clean out gardens.  These tasks included raking of old leaves and cleaning out of gradens in preparation for spring planting.  

We met as planned at 10:30 and headed over as a team.  Rakes and bags for leaves and shovels and brooms and plenty of winter hats helped us to complete our jobs on the day.  It was nice to see all of the old leaves from fall and winter getting raked up and pulled off and away from the gardens.  When removed the thick, black, Iowa soil stood out so well.  Ready to nurture new life and another spring and summer season of growth.  I am excited to see what comes of their gardens this year!  We did not get a chance, due to the weather, to clean the wondeos of several friends who had asked.  April always seems to be hit or miss when it comes to the weather, so we are planning to finish up the job on May 11th.  We hope to catch a nice, warm, spring day, which would be ideal for Spring Cleaning as the wind and cold seemed to be to much to take out the windows and do a thorough job cleaning.  Nevertheless, we will again be joining together to do a part two of this year's spring cleaning on May 11th and we will again meet at 10:30.  For more information please visit the 2Coats website at www.2CoatsInc.org or give Steve H. a call at 319-215-8628.  Hope to see you soon!

Spring cleaning was April's 10:5 Movement outreach as planned by members of 2Coats, Inc.  There are monthly outreach opportunities that all are welcomed to join and help with The 10:5 Movement began one of 2Coats' initiatives to serve the local community, specifically the "Sunrise Apartments" here in Grundy Center.  The plan of service will include monthly outreaches, making personal human to human connections and community building amongst the Sunrise Apartment community.  We hope to connect our team members with anyone who needs a little extra help in or around their apartment, those who may need something from the store, or anyone looking for some human contact and friendly relationship.

2Coats March 2013 Update

Good day all, Happy March!! I hope this finds you well.  Below is our March 2013 Update.  We continue to run similar compassionate engagements with much consistency and passion.  Even if you haven't joined us just yet, feel free to come out and join us.  You and your family will be an extra blessing.  We are trying out a slightly new format to help you arrange your calendar so we can see you soon.  Hope it works for you 

in TWO days, March 2nd, Community Night of Prayer.  Dinner gathering at 6, worship at 6:30.  Bring a friend or bring the family, kids are welcome, we have a kidZone!  

in TWO weeks, March 9th, 10:5 Movement will be handing out Essentials Bags to our friends.  

• These bags will be comprised of several things.
• Come pick up an empty bag (I can drop one to you too), fill it up, and bring it back (we have a list of supplies)
• Come give them away on March 9th around 11:00

in FOUR weeks, March 23rd, Mobile Food Pantry

• Come serve coffee, juice and doughnuts to some friends
• Several volunteers needed that day.  
• Meeting at 7AM

in ONE month, April 6th, Community Night of Prayer

looking ahead, 10:5 Movement Spring Cleaning will be on April 13th.  And if the weather cooperates, we hope to break ground with our gardening project called Watered Gardens on April 20th.

1. February Outreach date and needs

• 10:5 Movement
• When: Saturday February 9th at 10:30.  
• What: we will be handing out "from the heart" baskets to our friends over at the sunrise apartments.  Handshakers and huggers are welcomed. 
• The Needs: people 10-12; small baskets to house the snacks; heart healthy snacks and foods (raisins, granola bars, bananas, etc.)  Please let me know if you would like to provide any of these items.  

1. Mobile Food Pantry will take place on February 23rd.  Meeting at my house at 7.  Please let me know if you plan on serving.

1. Adopt-a-Family Update, showing God's love in a practical way.  This was amazing.

• An informal thank you to all who helped adopt this family of 6 living here in Grundy Center.  They were very blessed.  In this season of their lives, they are living paycheck to paycheck.  Paying bills, putting food on the table, and meeting basic needs have been a struggle.  I can tell you that they are making strides to get back on their feet.  We hope to continue to work with them and mom seemed very willing to do so.  We were able to get all of the gifts on the list, include a very generous donation to cover their rent.  Mom was in tears and could hardly believe all that was given.  Would love to introduce you to them here real soon as we work and serve with them.  Well done!
